Buckley relaxes for a moment, showing a little bit of leg for beefcake fans. I didn't know his wife passed away last year. A lot of times one spouse dies not long after the other. Although Buckley was a Catholic, he had only one son, Christopher, and two grandkids. (Suzy Allman, NYT)

For Fun,

here is part one of the Vidal/Buckley debate.

God, what a bullshitter Buckley was:

Not only that, but that nose-in-the-air shit drives me up the goddamned wall. What an insufferable snob he was, or pretended to be.

Obituaries.

"Father" of the new conservatism, William F. Buckley, Jr., a man who confused people thinking his polysyllabic bullshit was brilliance because every other word he spoke or wrote forced people to go to their dictionaries, has unfortunately died at the age of 82.

It appears too many years of smoking got to him finally. He died of emphysema on top of diabetes.

He also had one of the messiest offices in world history, worse even than my apartment.

Populism, which Edwards represents, is the enemy of the elite economic class.
_____

William F. Buckley,

who largely inherited his millions, is pissed off because John Edwards earned his.
A Journalist

appeared to be wasting a ton of money on a cruise for neocons, but this person was in for quite a surprise.

One gets a feel for what this bunch is really about.
