Well, the House Republicans decided to not look so bad against the jobless and Congress passed a two-month "extension" of UI, which of course isn't an extension at all but just a moving back of the filing dates.

Yep:

The measure, however, does nothing to create jobs or provide serious relief for millions of Americans who are being driven into poverty by mass unemployment and the indifference of the Obama administration and the entire political system to their plight. The very fact that it has become almost impossible to extend benefits to millions of long-term unemployed workers, in the midst of the worst crisis since the Great Depression, demonstrates the de facto dictatorship wielded by the financial oligarchy.

Somebody should superglue the asshole who did this to a cat:

Motorists passing by the stricken cat, named Timothy, did not bother to stop, thinking it had been injured.

But one couple driving along the busy road in Minnesota decided to investigate and pulled over.

It was only then they realised its paws had been cruelly glued to the tarmac.

Rosey Quinn, from Second Chance Rescue, told KSFY.com: "It's a mouth dropper because you are just like are you kidding me? But they did it."

She added rhe rescue service had never seen anything like it before.

Timothy is now recovering from injuries he suffered when he was removed from the road.

The WSWS takes a dim look at a government panel's breast cancer recommendations, even though there have been serious questions raised about mammograms for years.

This isn't any kind of conspiracy against women; besides, women who want them can still get them. This recommendation was based on a cost-benefit analysis.

Of course the panel recommended women with family histories of the disease should get mammograms just as they always have.

The euthanization of Oreo, the abused pit bull mentioned on this blog last week, has created a huge uproar, for many people believe the ASPCA didn't want to bother with the long process of rehabilitation.

The dog was euthanized only a little over three months after her legs were broken by her abusing owner having thrown her out the window.

This bitch, pictured on the left, is said to be a victim in a landmark case where her attacker is being tried for rape:

IN the first case in India in which a crime against an animal is being treated on par with a crime against humans, the prosecution is going to tenuous lengths to prove the rape of a dog.

They are collecting semen, going to laboratories to prove force (injury marks on the private parts of the animal and animal hair in the nails of the accused; marks on private parts), used in patently non-consensual sex.

This could prove path-breaking in Indian law.

The victim's testimony is critical, but it would be very hard to find a translator.

The destruction of GM, especially by Obama, is the most outrageous assault on working people ever committed in this country:

This is a contemptible lie. The bankruptcy of GM will only accelerate the process of deindustrialization, which has been carried out by the ruling elite over the last three decades as it increasingly turned to financial speculation to amass its vast fortunes.

In the Obama administration, the American ruling class has found its most ruthless representative, led by a Democratic president who has gone even further than his Republican predecessor in the assault on the working class. While handing over trillions in public assets to cover the bad gambling debts of the financial elite, it demands unending “sacrifice” from workers. The destruction of the jobs and living standards of GM and Chrysler workers will now be used to set a precedent for sweeping attacks on every section of the working class.

From the beginning, the White House has relied on the United Auto Workers to block any resistance by workers. The UAW—which emerged seven decades ago in the bitter sit-down strikes against the exploitation of GM workers—has been complicit in returning auto workers to conditions not seen since the 1930s. In return for functioning as a corporate-government overseer, the proprietors of this organization are receiving billions of dollars in shares and a 17.5 percent stake in the “New GM.”

I don't see ANY economic recovery on the horizon. It is all fixable, but our on-the-take politicians refuse to have the will needed to fix our structural economic problems.

There is a special place in hell for people who sexually abuse children, and this person is certainly going to go to prison for a long, long time. And probably in solitary confinement, for other inmates will certainly feel outraged enough to knock this guy off.

According to a union official, a police dog WAS abused by his handler. The dog was removed from his handler.

“Ron Cuzze is making inflammatory and libelous statements,” Garcia said. “He should be careful. If he has proof that I or one of my commanders was made aware of this, I would like to see it.”

Cuzze said he has a written statement from a member of the UNR police department who witnessed the abuse and said he informed Garcia about it months before Niko’s removal. Cuzze said several officers and some civilians told him they had informed Garcia of the mistreatment.

“Adam Garcia is lying through his teeth,” Cuzze said. “He even banned the dog from the station because members of the department were afraid the dog would take only so much abuse before he turned on his handler or someone else.”
