For-Profit Dental Chains
Another outrageous trend is the rise of for-profit dental chains serving the poor who cannot get dental care if they are on Medicaid or don't have any insurance at all. About one in three, and I suspect that is an understatement, cannot afford dental care in this country, including yours truly whose teeth are in bad shape. PBS's Frontline last night had a documentary about this. Part one:

Dental Insurance is a Huge Scandal
because companies won't pay for anything other than "preventative" care, which is the more affordable treatment than major dental or periodontal services, which yours truly needs but can't afford.
I suppose the project mentioned in the link is better than nothing, though.
