Etc.

Those who are jobless are going to find their situation even worse now that Congress has decided to throw more people on the street thanks to cutting off extended UI:

Stripping unemployed workers of benefits is part of a calculated ruling class policy to keep unemployment high, while providing no serious relief for the jobless, so as to use economic insecurity and social misery as battering rams to destroy the wages and conditions of the working class. Workers are being confronted with the “choice” of accepting near poverty-level wages and brutal speedup or losing their homes and seeing their families go hungry.

The "B.S." awards in education research are here.

There has to be a lot of competition for those dubious awards for dubious research.

The NYC media continue to be in the pocket of Mayor Bloomberg. He wants to ditch teachers merely accused of sexual wrongdoing. Of course any kid can make shit up, not to mention any principal can do the same.

It was a "not guilty" verdict for the Bunny Mellon charge and a mistrial on all of the other ridiculous charges leveled at John Edwards in an attempt to make an example out of him.

It was a complete waste of taxpayer money.

Let's hope the thing is done and over with.

And yes, it was all about trashing the one person who stood up for the "little guy" once and for all. It definitely helps the elitist Obama.

I still think Obama's people had a hand in the exposure of Druck.

Because of union contracts, principals are almost never fired, so why should the AP be shocked when they are shuffled around with "turnaround" models?

Arnold's situation is typical for principals in several states who were removed last summer under the federal School Improvement Grant program, intended to reform the nation's worst schools. The most popular way for schools to qualify for a slice of the $3 billion available was pick a reform plan that called for replacing what was considered failed leadership - but many of those principals are still running schools.

You can't fire them, unlike teachers, but even then, as in WCSD, teachers are merely shuffled around to other schools under "turnaround models."

Federal law doesn't supercede union contracts. And, as the article notes, rural districts have a hard enough time recruiting principals.

The Booming Economy

Obama is considering a major expansion of jobless benefits, which is all well and good, but we ALL know his biggest obstacle will be those asshole GOP Senators, senators bent on making sure Obama gets nothing done.

Meanwhile, the country will go down in economic flames.
