A Lot of This
Boston Globe piece by Anne Kornblut is typical kissass journalism regarding our fraud-in-chief's "personality" and what makes this "man" "tick," but there are also some good observations. Most notable is her observation that Little George is the antithesis of his "wimp" daddy, and it is likely he takes after his mother:
"Three years before the elder Bush's backbone was questioned, Barbara Bush stunned the political world with a daring insult to her husband's Democratic rival for the vice presidency, Geraldine Ferraro. 'I can't say it, but it rhymes with rich,' Barbara Bush said of Ferraro. She later apologized and insisted she meant Ferraro was a witch, not the profanity everyone had [rightly] assumed.
"That sort of biting invective and sarcasm show up in the current president time and again--as do the former first lady's impatience, contempt for the media, and ferocity. Before friendly audiences, Bush mentions his mother far more than his father, often joking that he is still obeying her orders...
"'In fact, he was more like (Barbara) that way he called a spade a spade. But it wasn't so easy for him to do it in the background, the way she'd done it all these years,' [Richard Ben] Cramer wrote in his classic account of the campaign, What It Takes..."
_____________
Well, we knew Mommie Dearest lurked somewhere in the background. Unfortunately, the Globe article is mostly a piece of cheap psychobabble pseudojournalism along the lines of the Kerry hit piece of a few weeks back (about his "identity crisis"). I don't know what it is with this newspaper, why it overanalyzes everybody and everything.
Instead of wasting nine printed pages on our dictator, one could simply analyze him in a line or two. Bush is a spoiled, lazy, shiftless, stupid, bullying man who got to where he is on the basis of connections and would have spent his life in a skid row gutter without those connections. He's a sociopath, a man who couldn't care less about what others think because he has a lack of compassion at his core. He is the Ted Bundy of American politics.
