I Am So Damned Disgusted

with the way many of the media have been covering the news about Elizabeth Edwards. Their bias against her husband is blatant and no more so than this. While a few of the wingnuts out there in Bizarroland think the press conference was some kind of political calculation, many in the mainstream media seem to think that John Edwards can't run a campaign while his wife is sick and all of that other rot and therefore should step aside.

Of course, let's leave out the inconvenient fact that Betty Ford, for example, battled illness while her husband was president, yet he didn't step aside. Or his vice president at the time, Nelson Rockefeller, whose own wife battled breast cancer. After all, facts are stupid things, as one president once said.

It is most likely Elizabeth Edwards insisted John continue the campaign, for no doubt she thinks this election is bigger than any problems they might have in their own lives. And that's their business. They had no choice but to go public with this announcement, but hey, the media actually had to cover it. They couldn't continue with their insistence there are only two candidates battling for the Democratic nomination and a third individual they desperately want running so they can trash him into the ground (Gore). They couldn't bury the Edwardses, and when they couldn't, they tried to use Elizabeth's illness as a way to pressure her husband to step aside.

The media and their corporate owners hate his guts and will do anything in their power to make sure he never gets the Democratic presidential nomination.
