Today I spent several hours up at Tahoe City, California, walking down the Truckee River Trail. Because it is paved, it is more of a bike path than it is a hiking trail. I went from Tahoe City, right across from Lake Tahoe at the beginning of the Truckee River, and I walked about 4.5 miles past Alpine Meadows, and then I turned around. I could have gone as far as the Squaw Valley Ski Resort, but by that time I was starting to "feel it." I took many pictures along the way. I think next week I may go back up there and ride the bicycle path. There are paths all over the place. I am not sure how far they go other than this particular trail or bike path ends up on Highway 89 to Truckee, or about 13 miles one way.

A view of the river by the Alpine Meadows area. I walked about nine miles round trip, and I am pooped.

I got this picture of a duck in the nick of time.

Wildflowers.

Another view of the river.

I almost wanted to jump in the river. I didn't, however.

Another wildflower.

There were many pretty wildflowers along the path.

Many people were out rafting or using inner tubes to go down the Truckee River near Tahoe City, California, either just for rafting or fishing.

Another picture.

I thought I'd copy one of the desktop designs that came with the computer. There were some of those flowers along the trail.

I love this area. My wife and I spent some time here in '03 and I still wear a t-shirt from the 'The River Grill' in Tahoe City. Awesome photos!
The area is really nice, especially this time of the year. When it is hot and smoky in Reno, it's good to get away for a few hours. The Truckee/Tahoe area has so many hiking trails and cycling paths, and I want to be able to go to as many as possible.
Thanks for your feedback, Bert.
