Democratic Debate, Miscellaneous Thoughts, Offline for a Few Days

It looks like I have some problems at my place with the connection to the internet. We are getting a new ADSL chord, which should arrive on Tuesday.

Yes, I have been watching the news about the horrific Paris attacks, which have killed at least 132 people. It has blanketed CNN for the past couple of days, ever since it happened.

I also watched the Democratic debates last night in Iowa. CBS televised the event.

I think Martin O'Malley may be running for the VP slot. I like his ideas very much, but he tends to be nervous and stammer during the debates. He does know what he is talking about. He is not much different than Bernie Sanders in terms of policies, but he is younger and sleeker.

The only problem with having O'Malley as a running mate for Hillary Clinton is he adds nothing geographically to the ticket. Maryland is in the Democrats' pockets regardless.

Things got fairly testy in that debate last night, especially with regard to Wall Street donations. Hillary Clinton fired back at her opponents about it. She is vulnerable on that score, and also about Glass-Steagall, which of course her husband signed. He of course would say that if he had vetoed the legislation, it would have been overruled anyway, but there is such a thing as taking a stand in favor of the masses instead of the billionaires, Wall Street crooks, and neoliberals. Sanders I think it was or maybe it was O'Malley said there was no way Robert Rubin or Larry Summers or any of that crooked gang was going to be in their administrations. I am not sure they would not have a seat at the table of a Hillary Clinton administration.

I still believe Hillary Clinton will be the next president of the United States.

Sanders said a lot of good things, but of course he has no intention of winning the nomination. He is there to fire up the left base of the party and to keep the debate honest. He is there to bring up issues that Hillary Clinton would not get away with.
