The infamous WorldNetDaily has decided to drop pundit Ann Coulter from an upcoming conference since she was scheduled to speak at a gay Republican event next month.

The "right-wing Judy Garland" remark made by the gay group is pretty funny.

Instead of Getting Cosmetic

surgery and changing her name, Ann Coulter has decided to hide her resident address because of harassment:

So much so that she got the county property appraiser to remove her name from public records identifying where she lives. In doing so, she won an exemption from public disclosure of her address, allowed by law for victims of stalkers or harassment.

Coulter, 45, has called Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards a homosexual slur and said she wished he would be killed by terrorists. She once said that President Clinton "could be a lunatic" and wrote of a group of widows of men killed in the World Trade Center that she had "never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much."

So maybe it came as no surprise when somebody delivered a greeting card to her home in March that read in part: "You self-aggrandizing ... sociopath!! The only thing left after a nuclear war are you and cockroaches."

Her house is one of 2,674 properties in Palm Beach County whose owners are confidential in property appraiser records. Homeowners must complete an affidavit stating why they should be exempt from the state's public records law.

As the World Turns.

Now ALL of the west will soon look like Incline Village.

It makes me sick.

The other day Georgetown University Law School had a panel discussion of the Schiavo case, obviously from the point of view of those who supported her right to live. Even though one of the attorneys for the Schindlers, David Gibbs, is noted in right-wing circles, the case really wasn't a left-right matter. It was a disability rights case which unfortunately got twisted by the media.

The panel, which included Terri Schiavo's brother, Bobby Schindler, admitted there were mistakes that were made, particularly in the early part of the case, which made the parents side of the case almost impossible to prevail.

The court-ordered killing was a horrible injustice and set a terrible precedent.

It Appears

the John Edwards campaign is easily going to reach its goal of $9 million for the quarter, and it will probably reach that goal today.

Currently it is at just over $8 million. The campaign has raised well over a million in a day, thanks in part to Ann Coulter's stupidity.

Speaking of Coulter, I think she believes she is some kind of wit and thinks what she says is funny, but actually it comes across as extremely offensive.

It's a good thing she never performed in vaudeville; she would have been a redhead instead of a blonde from all of the rotten tomatoes thrown at her.

Not That She

needs any defending, but Salon's Joan Walsh decides to defend Elizabeth Edwards anyway.

John Edwards appeared on Hardball tonight and did well, as expected, but Chris Matthews had to keep beating the Coulter story into the ground by putting on more squawking heads after Edwards finished with his segment. I shut the television off and started working on my scrapbook of my recent vacation to the national parks.

Later I watched Paris Hilton on Larry King Live, which actually was taped. She sounded contrite and even likable, but it was probably all some clever p.r. to make herself look good.

She said she has changed, that jail after all was good for her even if the food was "terrible." Hilton even talked about the Bible and God a little bit.

Well, we will see if she really had a life-altering experience.

Presidential Notes.

Obama's ads receive praise from a Republican stalwart.

Ann Coulter proved once again she is an idiot who keeps milking her vile comments for more publicity and money.
_____

I Thank God for Ann Coulter.

She's the best thing that happened to John Edwards' campaign.

Any publicity is better than none, as the media are insistent they aren't planning to cover him otherwise.

Like many others, upon hearing that she had used an address at a major conservative convention to call Edwards a "faggot," I quickly clicked to his home page to see his campaign's reaction -- and was happily diverted to more substantive stuff, such as his firm support of universal health care and an end to the war in Iraq. No wonder Coulter hates him: Edwards is a Democrat who believes in the progressive heritage of his party and is not afraid to tell the world.

Yep. He's too big a threat to the status quo.

Presidential Notes III.

Ann Coulter's stupid remarks hardly stopped John Edwards from campaigning; he was at Berkeley and drew a crowd of 1,000, slamming and damning old Shriekmistress every chance he got.

Hell, Coulter might have done more to get Edwards in the limelight than anybody else. Goodness knows he needs it; the media were burying him under an avalanche of Obama and Hillary hype.

Larry King Live had part of tonight's show devoted to the dustup, and it will be repeating shortly.

Presidential Notes.

Apparently Coulter's syndicate hasn't had anything to say about last week's "F-word fiasco."

I read somewhere where she's now on the warpath against Edwards campaign manager David Bonior, trying to paint him as being a puppet of "Islamofascists" or some goddamned thing.

Edit: It's being a "front" for Arab terraists, according to this.

The woman is several decks short of a full card.

Speaking of JRE, he feels it's time to ditch the touch-screen machines.

Presidential Notes III.

Republican candidates Giuliani, Romney, and McCain are trying to run as fast as they can from Ann Coulter's filthy insult against John Edwards.

Coulter insists it was all in fun and it was a "joke."

If so, how come when the people at the event first heard the "joke" they were a bit shocked?

No idiot, you got caught, and it's not helping you in the way you thought it would.

Like Other Edwards Supporters,

I received the David Bonior e-mail:

Dear Susan,

Did you hear about Anne Coulter's speech this afternoon attacking John? A friend just forwarded me the video and it's one of the worst moments in American politics I've seen.

I can't bring myself to even repeat her comments. Her shameless display of bigotry is so outrageous you actually have to see for yourself to believe it.

This is just a taste of the filth that the right-wing machine is gearing up to throw at us. And now that it's begun, we have a choice: Do we sit back, or do we fight back?

I say we fight. Help us raise $100,000 in "Coulter Cash" this week to show every would-be Republican mouthpiece that their bigoted attacks will not intimidate this campaign. I just threw in 100 bucks. Will you join me? Just click here.

Coulter's attack was no accident. It happened on national television at one of the year's biggest conservative conferences. Dick Cheney and most of the Republican candidates were in the audience. She was even introduced by Mitt Romney.

John was singled out for a personal attack because the Republican establishment knows he poses the greatest threat to their power. Since they have nothing real to use against him, Coulter's resorting to the classic right-wing strategy of riling up hate to smear a progressive champion. And the Republican attack dogs will keep playing this despicable trick as long as they think it works.

But this time, you and I can change the game.

If we can raise $100,000 in "Coulter Cash" this week, we can show that bigotry will only backfire on those who use it. John is not the first progressive leader to face this kind of slime, but together, we can make sure he is one of the last.

Tonight, I've put in 100 bucks of "Coulter Cash" to get us started. Can you match me, or chip in whatever you can afford? Just click here:

Presidential Notes II.

Elizabeth Edwards chastizes Ann Coulter for her stupid remarks which were carried on national television yesterday.

But that wasn't too far removed from the "Breck girl" nonsense Limbaugh and company have used on her husband.

The problem is this gives her even more notoriety than she deserves.
