Political Commentary

Obama talked about being "transformative" and the importance of bipartisanship without having any clue whatsoever that simply doesn't work dealing with those assholes in Congress.

He tried to invoke Reagan and tried to be all things to all people, but the campaign rhetoric wasn't realistic when it came to governing.

You can never be a conciliator and accomplish anything as president. And especially in dealing with this mutation of a Republican Party, a party which is so anti-worker and anti-American. Obama and the Democrats MUST be more confrontational and tell the TRUTH about the GOP:

But after the disastrous Bush years, Democrats can no longer afford the luxury of avoiding the confrontation with the American right and its toxic legacy -- or trying to gloss it over with pretty words, as Obama did with Reagan. And there will never be a better time to challenge the monster in the right-wing cave. It is talking tough now, but it is weakened and confused, and it has just been roundly rejected by the American people. Americans are in a crisis, and they are prepared to take a fresh look at old dogmas. As Jon Meacham and Evan Thomas pointed out in an insightful Newsweek article titled "We Are All Socialists Now," Americans suffer from cognitive dissonance about big government: They distrust it and say they don't want it, but want the things that only it can deliver. And with the great god of free market capitalism now revealed to have feet of clay to everyone who has (or had) a 401K, the time is ripe for an articulate and non-threatening liberal to explain to Americans why the federal government has a vital role to play and does not have to be the enemy of individual initiative.

Media Sexist Commentary

One doesn't have to be a fan or a voter for Sarah Palin to recognize filth when they read it.

Any time there is a halfway strong woman running for president or other public office, the media has to paint the woman as a domineering, controlling, castrating bitch. Hillary Clinton went through the same damned thing.

Because to anyone who isn't a true believer, Palin comes across not as a fantasy pinup, but as a dominatrix. And the S/M demographic isn't going to put the Republicans over the top in the swing states.

For the die-hard Republicans who lusted over Palin at the convention, her whip-wielding persona was a turn-on. You could practically feel the crowd getting a collective woody as Palin bent Obama and the Democrats over, shoved a leather gag in their mouths and flogged them as un-American wimps, appeasers and losers. "Drill, baby, drill!" the chant ecstatically repeated by the GOP faithful during Rudy Giuliani's speech, acquired a distinctly Freudian subtext after Palin spoke. The more Palin drilled the Democrats, the more hotly the base yearned to drill her. (We will leave it to shrinks to determine whether the GOP hardcore has the hots for Palin because she's reaming the Democrats, or because authority-worshippers tend to have secret fantasies of being reamed themselves.)

The problem for the GOP, however, is that for independents, Palin comes across as someone who's going to drill them. Strict biblical literalism, trying to ban books, denying human responsibility for global warming and launching nasty vendettas against foes may put lead in the pencil of unreconstructed Bush supporters, but for those who haven't already signed up for the extreme GOP agenda, they're about as seductive as a great white shark in Victoria's Secret lingerie.

This Kamiya is one sick asshole to write semi-pornography like this. It sounds more like his own sick fantasy about Palin than it does Republican supporters'. How does this help Obama, by the way, whose balloon is rapidly losing air?

I got news for him: It isn't whether McCain/Palin win the election, it's by how much.

Salon Still Whores for Obama

Just as Joseph Cannon at Cannonfire writes, why do the Obama shills in the media still continue to discount the PUMAs if they are irrelevant? It's because they are not, that's why. Gary Kamiya of Salon keeps trying to repeat the mantra so common among the nutroots bloggers in the hope if he says it often enough, it will eventually be true.

If the nutroots idiots and their media pundits weren't so busy repeating Free Republic-style filth against Hillary Clinton and trying to kick her and her supporters out of the party ala Joe Lieberman, and if Obama and his campaign had not engaged in filth during the primaries and caucuses, maybe her supporters would have at least given Obama a second look, even taking into account Obama is a liar and a crook. But Obama, his campaign, and his nutroots followers ruined all of that, and all three threaten to destroy the Democratic Party.
