Sometimes We Forget the Past

Germaine Greer was wrong on one point here a few weeks ago regarding the #metoo movement, and that had to do with her feeling women, at least actresses, in the past didn't tolerate sexual assault and harassment from movie bigwigs.  This is simply not true.

She said that "in the old days" women would "slap down" men who assaulted or harassed them, explaining: "In the old days, there were movies - the Carry On comedies, for example - which always had a man leering after women. And the women always outwitted him - he was a fool.

Most of the rest Greer said was true, but historically it isn't true actresses "slapped down" male assault.  The "casting couch" goes back to the very beginnings of Hollywood.  Starlets didn't dare turn down the advances of studio heads for fear they would be blackballed forever from the industry; back then, the industry was extremely incestuous.  The women were afraid they would be tossed out into the street with no money and no work.  Many traveled hundreds if not thousands of miles away from their homes and their families just so they could get the all-important "break" in the motion picture industry.  They couldn't speak out, either, and it was for the same reason.  A woman like Patricia Douglas was a rare exception.  She was the woman who was raped at a 1937 MGM salesman convention by one salesman, and she tried to fight the studio in the courts.  The rapist was never charged, and she lost every step of the way.  Author David Stenn made a movie about her, Girl 27, a film I mentioned a few days ago.  But Douglas was the rare exception of a woman going public, and she did shortly after she had been raped.  Most women kept silent for fear of financial ruin and fear of their reputations being destroyed.

Almost all  the big studio heads during the "golden age" of the Hollywood studio system employed the "casting couch," with the very worst them being 20th Century Fox's Darryl F. Zanuck.  He was a total pig, which is an insult to swine.  There really are no words harsh enough to describe this creep.  He must have had a "short man" complex--he was diminutive--and felt he needed to assert his power in other, more vile ways.  He married silent film actress Virginia Fox, who was no relation to the head of Fox Studios.  He never divorced her despite his rampant harassment of women and his cheating on her with much-younger mistresses.  As an aside, she was with him to the end of his life, after he suffered from a stroke and needed constant care, and after she threw out his last girlfriend, one Genevieve Gilles.  He eventually died of pneumonia in 1979, the last of the "golden age" Hollywood moguls.

But back to his vile treatment of women.  You can find lots and lots of articles about Zanuck on the internet and a number of books about his life and career.  This article from October mentions Harvey Weinstein and his membership od the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which dumped him, while looking at what Zanuck did decades ago:

Over at the Beverly Hills public library on Friday, Harris’s Dark Legacy book was still on the shelf. In it, any interested reader could learn that Zanuck – governor, benefactor, three-time recipient of a lifetime achievement award – went through contract actresses like tissue paper. “He was not serious about any of the women,” wrote Harris. “To him they were merely pleasurable breaks in the day – like polo, lunch, and practical jokes.”

Actresses were routinely summoned to a small part of his large, green-paneled office suite, in which he kept the casting couch. This was hardly a secret. As Harris wrote: “Anyone at the studio knew of the afternoon trysts.” Gossips said the studio shut down for a half-hour at 4 p.m. every day, while Zanuck had his way.

In the early 1980s, a Fox rep, conducting a private tour of the studio’s Century City lot, matter-of-factly described subterranean passages which, he said, were used by actresses who didn’t want to be seen on their sex trips to and from Zanuck’s office. The Underground Railroad, this was not. In fact, Zanuck’s record of harassment leaves something of a Confederate monuments problem at Fox today: Can anyone offended by Weinstein’s behavior feel entirely comfortable in Fox’s beautifully appointed Darryl F. Zanuck Theater? Or should it perhaps be renamed for an executive or producer who treated women better?

There is a bit of hypocrisy there, isn't there?

Here is another article about the vileness of Darryl F. Zanuck.

Tell the Truth About the Trans, and You Get Shouted Down

The "gender identity" movement, at bottom meaning the dubious right to crossdress in public, has turned into nothing more than a cult, complete with mind control.

The fact is the vast majority of the world agrees with Germaine Greer. They agree with her because there are certain things in the world that are not up for debate, that are not a matter of "opinion." Men cannot be women Sex is indeed binary and immutable. Transgenderism is incompatible with women's rights and is therefore institutionalized sexism. Feminists, indeed sane people, cannot support this postmodernist bullshit that is transgenderism, especially if people realize what these mostly men are really about.

"Cocks in frocks" need to stay out of women's spaces and institutions like women's sports. Keep your crossdressing at home and stop subjecting the rest of the world to your sexual kink.

More From Germaine Greer About the Trans

This truth is too good not to post here:

"Just because you lop off your d--- and then wear a dress doesn't make you a f------ woman," Greer said in a statement given to the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire show. "I've asked my doctor to give me long ears and liver spots and I'm going to wear a brown coat but that won't turn me into a f------ cocker spaniel.

"I do understand that some people are born intersex and they deserve support in coming to terms with their gender but it's not the same thing. A man who gets his d--- chopped off is actually inflicting an extraordinary act of violence on himself." Root said she was left "beeping gobsmacked" by Greer's statement.

Root, of course, is one of those transgender frauds.

The truth hurts, guys.

I Hope Germaine Greer Speaks

According to the New York Times, Cardiff University, the institution that has come under fire for inviting famed feminist writer and academic Germaine Greer to speak, has rejected the birdbrained SJWs of the campus who want to silence her because she says that men in dresses can't be women.

Last I looked at the petition in support of Germaine Greer, there were 1500 supporters, about the same as the one by those who are trying to silence her. However, the former petition has been online only about one day.

Enough is enough with the transgender bullshit. Many, many women know it is a bunch of crap, but they are afraid to speak up.

Germaine Greer will NEVER back down. I hope she will appear even though she said in the interview with the BBC she was getting tired of being attacked. Greer is 76 years old.

It Is a Messed Up World Indeed

when a man in drag is celebrated as a "woman of the year" while a woman who merely says the truth such men in drag are men is censored.

The postmodern movement is degenerate and crazy, and the attempted censoring of longtime feminist and writer Germaine Greer is proof.

Today's so-called feminists who think that men in dresses are women are not feminists; instead, they are chickenshits trying to curry favor with men.

The author is right wing in beliefs, but he is correct here:

But to the self-styled guardians of morality on increasingly loopy campuses, any criticism of transgenderism is tantamount to blasphemy. Alarmingly, Cardiff’s feminist students are running the campaign to shut Greer down. The petition for her lecture to be cancelled was started by the student union women’s officer, who says Greer’s views have ‘no place in feminism’. What a spoilt, ungrateful generation, hilariously unaware that their very ability to speak their minds and rouse some rabble is down to decades of intellectual and social agitation by people like Greer. She helped give them a voice; they try to silence hers.

Transgenderism is one of the most sexist concepts ever to come down the pike.

Greer has been involved in feminism long before these protesters were even born. People cannot support women's rights and at the same time support some batshit crazy movement of mostly sexual fetishists that seek to obliterate women's rights.

Petition in support of Germaine Greer's right to speak is here.

Interview:

Etc.

There is yet another hole in Dana Chandler's alibi:

After the seats were delivered to the police department, crime scene investigation officers disassembled them, then examined them for signs of blood. One stain was found on the seats, but a test disclosed it wasn’t blood.

The importance of the seats was that Chandler said while driving the car in the Colorado mountains in July 2002, she had bled on the seat during her period. Prosecutors were attacking that alibi.

Once again Germaine Greer got in trouble for telling the truth, this time about the bizarro concept of "transwomen." There is no such thing. One is either male or female (oh I know there are rare exceptions of hermaphroditism, but that is an exception to the rule) biologically. Gender is not a sociological construct. Men who want to playact as a stereotypical female to the point of being surgically mutilated and pumped up with hormones are still men, still males, whether they like it or not.

Some of them don't like it, and they let Greer know it.

Yep:

In her 1999 book, The Whole Woman, she wrote: “Governments that consist of very few women have hurried to recognise as women men who believe that they are women and have had themselves castrated to prove it, because they see women not as another sex but as a non-sex.

“No so-called sex-change has ever begged for a uterus-and-ovaries transplant; if uterus-and-ovaries transplants were made mandatory for wannabe women they would disappear overnight. The insistence that man-made women be accepted as women is the institutional expression of the mistaken conviction that women are defective males.”

Calling people who tell the truth "transphobic" is just a cover for the fact they aren't females. Quit living a lie.

LAUSD teachers are finding out if they are going to be RIF'd in the spring, but more than a few have already been sprung with false accusations in order for the district to get them to resign.

If they resign, they risk losing their licenses.

As the World Turns.

Evidently Germaine Greer has never heard the saying: "If you can't say anything nice about somebody..."

Just As She Did

in her accurate assessment of the late Steve Irwin,Germaine Greer has once again provoked controversy, this time regarding Diana, Princess of Wales.

Probably not a smart move on her part. While one could convincingly write that Irwin got what was coming to him (and, after watching a handful of episodes of his Crocodile Hunter series or whatever it's called, I believe he did, for he treated animals like crap), Diana is a whole different matter.

Apparently, the article isn't available online; I haven't been able to find it. All we have are news summaries, which aren't satisfactory.
