News, Etc.

It was a year ago as we were recovering from our turkey dinners Tiger Woods was involved in a car accident that ended up ruining his reputation and almost his career.

I doubt Ben R.'s problems with women are going to stop his reckless behavior.

There is an attitude widespread among athletes, politicians, the rich, and so on that believes they are entitled to be assholes.

Speaking of the paragraph immediately above, it appears Tiger and Elin are about to call it quits--for good:

TIGER Woods' marriage to Elin Nordegren is over, with new reports in the US that the golfing superstar and his estranged wife are making the finishing touches to their divorce.

Just days after Woods completed his triumphant return to golf following his cheating scandal, US news show Entertainment Tonight reports that Ms Nordegren, who failed to show at his US Masters Tournament comeback, is close to filing for divorce

I think after the humiliation Elin went through, there was no way she was going to take him back.

It appears Tiger needs to stick with indoor sports from now on.

"I'm Sorry, So Sorry."

Naturally I missed the most important announcement of my lifetime:

Breaking sports news video. MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL highlights and more.

Summary: He cheated on his wife, he's sorry he's disappointed so many people, he's going back to therapy, he's going back into Buddhism, he won't be returning to golf for awhile, at least, and Elin didn't beat him up.

Elin shouldn't take her scumbag husband back.

Tiger by the Tail

Tiger Woods is reportedly going to apologize Friday for having gotten caught over his bedding women by the truckload over the years.

I can hardly wait to hear what he has to say.

Is he addicted to sex, or is he just using "addiction" as an excuse:

The Silly Season

Where was Pat Buchanan 30 or 40 years ago, when he could have told Warren Beatty to quit screwing every skirt that ever walked and accept Jesus Christ as his lord and savior?

For that matter, where was Brit Hume?

One thing about it: Tiger Woods is still good for ratings.

It appears more and more certain Elin Nordegren is going to dump Tiger Woods once and for all.

I am glad of it. Nobody should have to put up with that much humiliation.

Woods, 33, has had his private and professional life shattered after at least 14 women, including two porn stars, have been identified as former lovers. He has admitted infidelity and withdrawn from international golf indefinitely.

It has also been claimed that Woods “bought the silence” of several girlfriends by regularly sending them thousands of dollars.

According to MSNBC, several unnamed women said Woods gave them monthly sums ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 (£3,050 to £6,100), with some believed to have received as much as $20,000.

“The money comes via a wire transfer. There’s no contract about it, there’s no discussion about what it’s for, but it’s implied that it’s in exchange for keeping quiet about his affair,” said one of the women.

Woods’s wife is expected to return to Sweden with their two young children for Christmas while her husband will reportedly be spending the break with a group of male friends.

Elin Nordegren has been seen around without her wedding ring thus creating all kinds of speculation on the state of her marriage.

Tigergate--Supposedly It's Over

Woods' wife Elin supposedly will pack it in after Christmas and move back to Sweden.

There is only so much a wife will take, no matter how rich the cheating spouse:

CHEATING Tiger Woods' wife will DUMP him after Christmas, we can sensationally reveal.

Shattered Swedish model Elin Nordegren is in talks with divorce lawyers but keeping up a show of normal family life for the sake of their two children.

With her mind in turmoil over what to do for the best, Elin wants to spend Christmas with Tiger and the kids in Sweden before a trial separation in the New Year, she confided to a close friend.

And last night, as major sponsor Gillette DROPPED the disgraced golf superstar from their advertising, the pal told us: "Elin will pretend it's the usual family celebration for the children and then ditch the man.

He allegedly cheated around on his wife the night his father died.

Speaking of that parade of mistresses, is there a double standard involved, as if the question needs to be asked? The women, as we all know, are sluts for getting involved with a married man, but poor rich man Tiger is simply a troubled individual who couldn't help but engage in blatant promiscuity.

But not only the women's behavior is suspect, it's also what they do for a living, whether as porn stars or hash slingers. They are cheap and tawdry, certainly inferior to the megastar Woods:

Waitressing and modeling are jobs typically associated with women, which makes maligning them seem rather sexist. And unless one manages to become the equivalent of Tyra Banks or Heidi Klum, who once strutted around in Victoria's Secret lingerie and a set of angel wings, they are not especially well paying, either. (Although one of the "Trashy models" on that company's Web site is burlesque star Dita Von Teese, who has made a name performing at parties for the likes of Fendi, and who regularly receives a seat of honor at runway shows for such houses as Chanel.)

Because of the financial imbalance between the billionaire Woods and the women linked to him, there's a power imbalance, too. So it makes sense to hold up the occupations as emblematic of that inequity. But there's something else going on as well, something that speaks to the idea that certain jobs -- banal jobs that popular culture has tainted -- are an indication of moral fiber, of self-respect and of just how easily one might crumble in the face of wealth, fame and a big, wide smile. Maybe we should begin by blaming Hugh Hefner and his Playboy bunnies for forever transforming the job of shuttling drinks around a lounge into something that is suggestive and sexually tantalizing. It doesn't seem to matter that back in their heyday, those Playboy bunnies followed all sorts of rules about how they were supposed to walk and bend and comport themselves in the room. No matter, the tease is what everyone remembers, and what has stuck in the psyche.

What a Mess

Not a day goes by anymore without somebody coming out of the Woodswork and revealing yet more escapades by the now-temporarily retired golfer. This time it's alleged orgies.

Braun said her girls told her Woods was "wild and a lot of fun".

She added: "He liked girl-on-girl. He had sex with them together. He was tough to keep up with - days at a time on a booze and sex bender."

Braun claimed Woods called her from different cities to organise girls.

She said: "He had a pretty big appetite for girls. Never just one girl. He would want to set up a whole weekend of partying and have ten or 15 girls 24/7.

"Mostly young, college cuties. In an average weekend in Las Vegas he'd probably spend $30,000 or $40,000."

Last month Braun was sentenced to three years' probation for money laundering and transporting a prostitute over state lines.

I have just about given up posting anything more about him; it's impossible to keep up.

As mentioned above, he's taking a break from golfing.

I don't know why in the world Elin would take him back.

Tiger Woods should never, ever consider a career as a romance novelist:

Getting even gooeyer, Woods wrote in his Nov. 9 missive that "you want someone to witness your life."

"I want you to lay next to me, lay on me or where ever you want to lay," he texted. "Why didn't we find each other years ago. We wouldn't be having this conversation."

This is the cartoon of the day:

Tigergate

It appears Tiger Woods' mother-in-law is just sick over the whole mess:

Emergency crews were summoned to Tiger Woods' Orlando-area mansion for the second time in less than two weeks Tuesday, this time because his mother-in-law was having stomach pains.

Barbro Holmberg was taken by ambulance to Health Central Hospital after someone called 911 about 2:35 a.m., hospital spokesman Dan Yates said. She was in stable condition later Tuesday and her condition was not serious, but Yates said he could not be more specific because of privacy laws.

Holmberg, who arrived in the U.S. a few days ago, lives in Sweden and is the mother of Woods' wife, Elin.

Tigergate

Why in the hell did Tiger Woods ever bother to marry if all he was going to do is screw around on his wife--and have girlfriends by the truckload:

Nordegren, 29, left the $2.6 million estate in Windermere, Fla., and is living nearby in another house, according to Radaronline.

TMZ.com, another Web-only gossip site, is also reporting Nordegren’s mother, Barbro Holmberg, has jetted in from Sweden to be with her daughter. Holmberg is a prominent Swedish politician.

The news comes as numerous reports tie the PGA titan to 10 alleged mistresses - including porn star Holly Sampson.

More is here.

And too much is here. The "list" is sure to grow:

Tiger Woods, you've got eight problems the rest of us don't. At least, it looks like eight nine. For now.

1. Rachel Uchitel, The Original.
2. Jamie Grubbs, The Tool Academy Alumni.
3. Kalika Moquin. The One Who Won't Rat.
4. Jamie Jungers, The Fan's Fiancee.
5. Cori Rist. The "Butter" Lover.
6. Mindy Lawton. The "Rag Doll" Neighbor.
7. Holly Sampson, The Porn Star.
8. The Unnamed British TV Host.
9. The Unnamed Fourth Vegas Vixen.

And of course the tenth one.

Tigergate

I think Tiger Woods wishes he could sleep through this entire nightmare he has been through since reports of his domestic problems and accident surfaced:

Adams told investigators Woods had a bloody lip, but did not appear to have any broken bones or more serious injuries. But the 33-year-old professional golfer was not conscious.

"At that point he was snoring," said Adams. "He was actually snoring."

Elin Woods sat beside her husband of five years, holding his hand.

Tigergate

Well, the plot thickens as Tiger Woods issues an apology after a voicemail to another alleged mistress has surfaced.

From his site:

I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.

Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.

But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don't share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one's own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions.

Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone. I have given this a lot of reflection and thought and I believe that there is a point at which I must stick to that principle even though it's difficult.

I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.

Woods says the accident is all his fault.

In a statement posted today on his Web site about an hour before he was meet with troopers, Woods says his wife, Elin, acted "courageously" when she saw that he was hurt. He says any other assertion is "absolutely false."

Woods says he understands there is curiosity about the accident. He says the "malicious" rumours circulating about him and his family are irresponsible.

The world's No. 1 golfer says he has cuts and bruising and is "pretty sore."

His official statement is here.

Yesterday Murdoch's News of the World had a piece which seemed to be very much on Tiger Woods' side and against the National Enquirer's allegations.

I suspect Murdoch's outfit is upset because his publications didn't get the scoop.

I love the headline: "Tiger's Not a Lion Cheetah, but His Wife Still Went Ape..."

Glamorous Rachel Uchitel - pictured far right - revealed her shock over the accident and said: "We have never had an affair. God forbid that Tiger got into a car wreck because of this."

False rumours that Woods had been seeing the New York socialite are said to have sent his wife Elin Nordegren into a rage after they celebrated Thanksgiving at their £1.7 million Florida mansion.

And as Woods, 33, left the alleged bust-up in his Cadillac in the early hours of Friday he hit a fire hydrant and then a tree and was knocked unconscious for SIX MINUTES.

When cops arrived at the scene they discovered Swedish ex-model Elin, 29, had smashed his rear window with TWO GOLF CLUBS. Woods was lying dazed on the ground with cuts around his mouth and his wife was "hovering over him".

Is Tiger Woods' wife to blame for his accident the other day when he first ran into a fire hydrant then into a tree with his SUV?

Reportedly his wife saw reports, presumably from the National Enquirer, her husband was having an affair with one Rachel Uchitel, 34, but Uchitel has denied ever having any affair with him and calls the reports "bullshit."

National Enquirer:

The ENQUIRER is reporting exclusively in its print edition that the 34-year-old brunette, who has a reputation for dating married celebrities, has been telling friends about a jet-set liaison with 33-year-old Tiger that began in June.

Multiple sources, who passed polygraph tests, say Rachel told them that she and Tiger also stay in touch during his frequent travels through phone calls and "sexting," sending each other racy text messages on their cell phones.

One close friend of Rachel's -- Ashley Samson -- told The ENQUIRER: "Rachel told me, 'I'm having an affair with Tiger Woods. We're in love!'"

And while Rachel emphatically says she's no home wrecker, she recently had a disastrous affair with David Boreanaz, the star of Bones. The affair even continued while his wife was pregnant and was reported exclusively by Star magazine.

So despite Rachel's protestations, the ENQUIRER amassed plenty of evidence for its story and is now releasing part of it.

Rachel, an events planner and former director of VIP operations at the NYC nightclub Grffin, has attempted to distance herself from the growing scandal in several comments made to media in the last 24 hours, including to the Associated Press, New York Post and New York Daily News.

But The ENQUIRER can show how Rachel's denials are full of contradictions!

The reason he appears to be invisible to people like me is because he is spending most of his time on foreign affairs, of which he is an expert. I too believe he should have been president.

In any case, he's probably the most powerful VP, for Dick Cheney wasn't really VP anyway--he was actually the president while little George was little more than a figurehead.
