people should ignore them, but they never do. I really couldn't care less what religious people think or what atheists think.
The real issues facing Americans are so profound. Those issues are the economy, jobs, and privatization of public services. These are issues that in theory could unite people from all political viewpoints, but instead our politicians decide to focus on those stupid "social issues" like abortion, gay marriage, marijuana legalization, immigration, and whatever other stupid thing they come up with in order to create division and divert attention while the neolibs and their henchmen and henchwomen continue to pick their pockets.

News, Etc.
Former president Dick Cheney received a new heart to replace the one that was missing. I know that's a bad joke, but I am not the first one who has made it.
Cheney has had a history of heart trouble. He was on the transplant list for 20 months. I am actually surprised anybody would allow him to even receive a transplant given his age. He is 71 years old.
_____
Some atheists decided to take their grievances to D.C. this weekend.
Given most people's prejudice against nonbelievers, they probably won't get very far.

"We are here to deliver a message to America," David Silverman, president of American Atheists, one of the rally's sponsors, told the crowd. "We are here and we will never be silent again."
Indeed, thousands came out for what organizers dubbed The Reason Rally and billed as the largest-ever gathering of nonbelievers in one place. They stood in a steady and sometimes heavy rain as speakers, singers, writers, comedians and activists charged them with channeling their common rejection of God into a force for political change.
Given most people's prejudice against nonbelievers, they probably won't get very far.

Two U.S. senators are asking Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate whether employers asking for Facebook passwords during job interviews are violating federal law, their offices announced Sunday._____
Troubled by reports of the practice, Democratic Sens. Chuck Schumer of New York and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut said they are calling on the Department of Justice and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to launch investigations. The senators are sending letters to the heads of the agencies.
Misc Whatever
Frank Rich made some good points in his recent piece about Wall Street, but of course in the WSWS's eyes, he didn't go far enough.

Since atheism and religious belief are two sides of the same coin, there shouldn't be any debate over debating the unanswerable issue of whether God exists.
In fact, nobody knows that; it's a matter of faith or having a faith that He doesn't exist. And when it comes to the hereafter, nobody knows what is on the "other side," and therefore EVERY person, whether he or she admits it, is an agnostic.
______
Wall Street did better than anybody else in this country last year.

A man died trying to save his dog, who was hit by a car. The man was struck and killed by a bus:
Jersey, the dog, is reportedly alive.

Because they are losers who believe women are nothing more than garbage receptacles. There is no point trying to sugarcoat it.

A man died trying to save his dog, who was hit by a car. The man was struck and killed by a bus:
John Christopher Morgan, 22, was buying some beer at a Plant City convenience store just after 7 p.m. when he saw his dog jump out of his car and run onto S.R. 60, according to his friend, Jason Braden.
The dog – a pitbull-cur mix named Jersey, who Morgan always called "Pup" – was hit by a car, Braden said.
So Morgan ran onto the road to get him, Braden said.
Morgan probably ignored the oncoming bus that, seconds later, would hit and kill him, Braden said.
"I know him long enough to know he saw the bus was coming," said Braden. "He would take the hit, but it was worth it for him for that dog. That dog was all he had."
Jersey, the dog, is reportedly alive.

During These Tough Times,
it may be less profitable to set up a church than to set up an organization catering to atheists.
The number of people declaring themselves without a religious faith has increased dramatically over the past twenty years. Not all of them are atheists or agnostics, but they are an untapped reservoir of supporters to a nonreligious movement.

Miscellaneous [Updated]
Another dumbass teacher loses her career over illegal conduct.
She's as good as guilty, for, as a public school teacher, she had to have gone through the hearing process and had been found "guilty" of sexual misconduct. That's why she was fired.
It doesn't matter if there was "consent" or not, for statutory rape MEANS one person was the adult, and the other a child below the age of consent. Furthermore, some states if not all make it absolutely illegal for any teacher to have any sexual contact with students, regardless of age.
Stupid, stupid, stupid to tempt fate.

A baby gorilla of an endangered species was born at the National Zoo.
_____
It's possible the most despised people on the planet are atheists. There is a greater chance of hell freezing over or Christ making his return than an atheist being president of the United States. A group of British atheists have created a bit of a stir with their bus ad extolling the joys of nonbelief.
