from almost a year ago about John McCain and the media whoring for him:

Despite the self-inflicted wounds, McCain said he's not about to cut off his almost constant exposure to the media or would-be voters.

"I would not enjoy, in any way, the seclusion and keeping the media away," said the candidate, who sought the GOP nomination in 2000. "It just wouldn't be any fun and it's got to be fun."

In some ways, McCain doesn't have a choice.

"He raised expectations so high for his access in 2000, if all of the sudden he changed course and became less accessible and more prerecorded, then the media would jump all over him," said Dante Scala, who teaches politics at Saint Anselm College in Manchester.

There was never any question that reporters would be given free access to him on his bus. And there is never any question that he would pay visits to the same newspaper editorial boards that endorsed him last time. It is also why he is planning to end his campaign on Monday night with a rally in Portsmouth, the same place he ended his 2000 campaign.

It's a totally corrupt relationship.

has been assigned to whore for John McCain and his Double-Talk Express.

Ladies and gentlemen, John McCain is back. Left for dead when his campaign ran out of cash last summer, he returned to his endless town hall meetings and freewheeling talks on his campaign bus -- and he's risen to the top of the Republican primary polls in New Hampshire, just as he did eight years ago.

Sickening. I am sure John McCain isn't the only candidate with a self-depreciating sense of humor. But you wouldn't know it by the fawning attention of McCain by the corrupt media corps.

Speaking of McCain and the media, I was at a dinner tonight with various political reporters who are up here to cover the happenings, and it was pretty funny how giddy/relieved they were at the prospect of a McCain-Obama general election campaign, as opposed to, say, a Romney-Clinton one. Suddenly, the next 11 months of their lives look a whole lot more enjoyable.

Again, the word for it is corruption. This doesn't compare to FDR or JFK, by the way. Print media, which was dominant then, doesn't compare at all to the electronic one in addition to print today.

I Am Not

the only blogger who has noticed the unsavory McCain/media connection this election cycle.

A rival needs to call him on it, for they are going to lose if they don't. Obama has long been cooked for any opportunity to be president. However, all of the sucking up in the world to the media by him will not make a difference. He's already being set up as the nominee in order to be destroyed by McCain. Obama's ego is too big to recognize the unpleasant reality.

As I said, this really needs to be a campaign issue because of the unfairness.

The narrative is being written as we are looking at the New Hampshire Primary results. It doesn't matter all that much whether McCain wins it, though he probably will. ANY showing by McCain, unless he somehow gets trounced by Thompson or Paul, will be considered a victory.

Note this from Warren Rudman, still true today:

A nastier word for this is corruption. It was lucky for our dictator he had Karl Rove and his dirty tricksters knock media darling McCain off in South Carolina.

That's not going to happen this time, I'm afraid. I don't think any of McCain's opponents have taken him to task on this.

is why John McCain may well wind up as president of the United States if we end up nominating a hyperbolic piece of shit as our party's nominee.

McCain has always had the huge advantage over all of the GOP candidates by being willing to allow the media almost unfettered access. This goes back to 2000, when lapdogs like Mike Wallace were shamefully kissing McCain's ass and helping to create the myth of the "maverick" candidate or the "straight-shooter."

The media were corrupt all through the 1990s when they peddled lies about the Clintons, but nowhere were they more brazenly corrupt than they were in the election of 2000.

McCain, of course, had the media, but they were no match at all for Turd Blossom, Cheney, and their puppet.

The link mentions all kinds of media whores jumping on the Double-Talk Express and lapping it up.

This really ought to be a political issue, this unsavory mixing of an alleged independent media and a presidential candidate. It colors their entire coverage and turns into little more than p.r. or propaganda for that candidate.

It Is Evident

Joe Biden

nailed the media flaks for the GOP enablers they are:

“This," said Biden, "is about celebrity. You’ve never given any of us a chance. You know in your heart I’m more qualified than any of these guys up top. I know you can’t say yes or no, but I know you know.”

He charged that The Times and other newspapers rarely mentioned him in political stories, ensuring his lackluster performance and obscurity. When a reporter suggested that Biden had a chance to make his case to Iowa voters, he shot back that it was a dishonest assertion.

“Don’t be a phony, OK?” he said.

They've got their goddamned marching orders to ignore Edwards, and it will take a miracle for Edwards to overcome this blatant, immoral bullshit.
