 Biden gave a rousing speech in North Carolina today, a contrast to his somewhat lackluster debate performance of last night, at least the first 20 minutes of it thanks to having a hoarse throat and a cold.  I doubt that debate performance hurt him despite the NYT editorial board calling for him to step aside.  The reason is because of the literally dozens of lies Trump told.  Every word that came out of his mouth last night was a lie.  The fact checkers are finally taking apart those lies.

Postscript:  Biden did a great job and ignored the rude and the hecklers.  He touched on all the important issues facing this country, and he faced head-on the nonsense about his age.  This speech went on for about an hour and 45 minutes, and he was not tired, he was not flustered, and he was not "senile" in any manner, shape, or form.  I am glad he is president at this time in our country's history.  He should be re-elected in spite of his advancing years.

Good on Biden

 The president is planning to announce mandatory vaccinations for federal employees today (presumably with health and religious exemptions) in order to help stop the spike in COVID-19 cases. I hope all state, local, and private employers follow suit.  Furthermore, let's have insurance companies spike up rates for those who refuse the vaccine.

There is no goddamned excuse for the vast majority of people not to be vaccinated.  People are dying, people are straining medical resources because of their stupidity.

The big problem here is we have three-and-a-half generations in this county who have NEVER lived through a real plague until now. AIDS doesn't really count because it was never that widespread, it targeted specific groups, and it is easily preventable albeit has no cure.  These people have no idea how bad certain diseases can get or would get if it weren't for vaccines.  Anybody under 60 years of age has no clue what it is like.  I am thinking of polio specifically.  I can remember as a little girl how scary it was for millions, especially children, and especially in the southern states, every summer.  They were afraid to go outside for fear of getting polio.  If they did, the vast majority of children and adults made it, but for a significant minority, it was disability, death, or perhaps worst of all, the iron lung (there weren't respirators then as now).  Thanks to the March of Dimes, promoted by FDR (hence his face on the US dime), the Salk and Sabin vaccines were developed, and polio today is all but wiped out from the face of the earth.  

I remember getting the Sabin vaccine, the sugar cube, when I was in first grade.  Everybody got it.  There weren't crackpots going around yapping about their "freedom."  Everybody, young and old, understood it was a citizen's responsibility not to make others sick.

This is lost on too many of the current generations.  It's me, me, me, me, me.

I Don't Give Voters as Much Credit as Biden Does,

since I don't think most of them have woke up to what is really happening to them in the relentless push to turn this country into a third world nation.

It doesn't help Obama subscribes to the same thing. Still, having Democrats control Congress, IF they really did it instead of letting the minority Republicans get away with murder, is better than the alternative.

Way down at the bottom of the article, it says there have been changes in the primary system so that both parties' primary/caucus schedules will be pretty close.

Furthermore, there will be NO more January primaries and caucuses; the four early states (Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina) will hold their contests in February.

Vice President Biden

was in Reno yesterday stumping for Senator Harry Reid, who is up for re-election next year. Biden said the economic stimulus package was working.

I have met both of them in person anyway, and I know there will be more opportunities to meet with Joe Biden, a person of whom I have a high opinion.

Biden is making his first trip to Reno since taking office also to help Reid raise money for his re-election bid for a fifth term and has been on a national tour to discuss the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the $787 billion federal stimulus package passed in February.

Biden will also be at a breakfast fundraiser for Reid, who of course is running for re-election next year.

Now that the so-called "swine flu" has been found in Spain, the WHO says it may wind up being the first flu pandemic since the Hong Kong flu in 1968-1969.

Joe Biden is right about swine flu and confined spaces; his remarks are by no means gaffes.

I am glad I don't have to rely on public transportation now. I'd be in one hell of a fix.

When George W. Bush Became

president after the USSC illegally gave him the job, few people in the media talked about his inability to put two words together. But when it comes to Vice President Joseph Biden, articles abound about his legendary "gaffes" and "worry" about them.

My biggest gripe about Biden is the fact Obama doesn't rely on him more. It appears he has been relegated to foreign policy issues, which is fine, as he is an expert, but Obama desperately needs his imput on domestic issues.

Night owl that Bill Clinton is, he campaigned in the middle of the night for Obama. There is a video clip of the two.

Al Gore is to be there, too, to remind everybody who REALLY should have been president in 2000, and was, but for a corrupt USSC.

The Obama campaign believes it has a real shot at Florida, since Jeb is no longer running the state and Governor Crist has no desire to rig it. Joe Biden was also there making a pitch for support of Israel.

Florida, as we know, has a high percentage of Jewish voters, which was one of the reasons Al Gore tapped Joe Lieberman as his running mate back in 2000.

One should always bear in mind only THREE states west of the Mississippi are considered competitive at all: Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada. One of the major reasons, if not THE major reason, for the huge crowds is many people who did not see the candidates during the primaries are now coming out to see them, and MANY of them are from neighboring states.

I know this was true in Reno yesterday. I talked to many people who were from out of state, especially California, who came in to see Obama on a weekend. The same was true in 2004, by the way. There are also many volunteers from around the country working on this campaign.

Contrary to popular belief, Joseph Biden was not making an unintentional endorsement for John McCain when he made those bizarro claims that if Obama is elected, he will be "tested" during the first months of his presidency because he is unqualified, unvetted, and inexperienced and it's better to elect him instead of electing somebody who is qualified, vetted, and experienced. That's because if Obama is elected and tested by some unknown crisis, he can always turn to Joe Biden for help since Obama doesn't know his ass from his elbow.
