Bill Clinton gave a speech which ran longer than the ten minutes he was alloted:



He might have been too much of a butt kisser in his speech, but of course one can't expect him to diss the Messiah of Hyde Park.

Although Hillary Clinton gave a great speech last night, it did little to heal the division in the party.

The party is "worried" now about mass defections by Clinton supporters to John McCain.

Well, what in the hell did they expect? After the May 31 charade effectively handing Obama the nomination, they lost what little chance they had in the fall.

Don't expect Clinton supporters to "get over it" any more than Gore supporters when the 2000 election was stolen.

This part is damning:

Perhaps the best example of the persistent divide in the Democratic Party came after Clinton's speech Tuesday night. The lights went down in the Pepsi Center, and some influential Democrats left downtown for good. They planned to head for the airport and fly home, long before Obama accepts the nomination in a speech at Invesco Field on Thursday night.

Clinton will hold a private meeting with her top financial advisers Wednesday, and many donors plan to leave immediately afterward. Terence R. McAuliffe, Clinton's campaign chairman and the former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, also plans to leave before Obama's speech. Many of the women from 18 Million Voices, Fiechter's pro-Clinton group, booked tickets for Wednesday and Thursday because "we really are taking a position of being indifferent to Obama," Fiechter said.

Clinton's delegates inside the Pepsi Center had no choice but to stick around, at least until the end of Wednesday's roll call.

"I wish I could leave," said Straughan, the professor from California. "To be honest, that would make this whole thing a lot easier."

Too bad Clinton's delegates can't stage a walkout at the convention.

Hillary Clinton gave one of the best speeches of her career tonight, a real barn-burning speech.

She sounded like a president, not like a supporter of Obama.



I suppose some might say this is her kickoff speech for a 2012 run.

Michelle Obama, contrary to vicious rumors on the internet, didn't announce she was pregnant. She did, however, say she loves her country and said "God bless America" at the end of her speech.

The Nutroots Chronicles

In addition to swarms of PUMA protesters and delegates to Denver, the nutroots promise to play a starring role at the Democratic convention.

Call it the "last hurrah" of the nutroots. When Obama goes to certain defeat, and believe me, when Massachusetts and Michigan are considered tossups (provided Romney is on the GOP ticket), it's not only over for the Democrats, it's probably over for the bloggers, too.

Their track record has been miserable as it is in electing anybody worth a shit. And then to be SO gullible as to swallow the media hype over Obama and trash Hillary Clinton is really beyond the pale. Treating a right-leaning "Democrat" with privatizer/neocon advisers as a "progressive hero" while trashing real Democrats makes me ask a lot of questions as to WHO these "progressive Democrats" REALLY represent.

Somebody was paying these people off to spew 24/7 propaganda on behalf of Obama and against Democrats.

And if readers didn't see this effort to push AP to remove Ron Fournier from the presidential beat for daring to spew the inevitable Republican talking points about Obama, they should. Dumb shit Hamsher has a history of doing stupid stunts like promoting Ned Lamont and driving Joseph Lieberman out of the Democratic Party (when the party couldn't afford defections), and trying to deny Larry Sinclair a hearing at the National Press Club on his allegations against Obama and thus drawing attention to him. This is just another one of her dumb stunts.

Gee, Jane, you mean you didn't see it coming at ALL? Little old me, who makes nothing on this blog and gets relatively few hits, saw this shit coming more than a year-and-a-half ago. If you weren't so much in the tank for Obama, if not financially in the tank for him, you would have seen it.

But the nutroots have never been known for astute thinking or for thinking at all.
