Possible Obituary: Bernie Sanders' Campaign

After getting soundly beaten last night in the Arizona, Florida, and Illinois primaries, Bernie Sanders is finally going to "reassess" his campaign.  The coronavirus issue probably plays a factor in his decision to seemingly shed his monstrous ego for the greater good.  Then again because his opponent is a man, Joe Biden, Sanders is more comfortable with the idea of dropping out, perhaps eventually retiring from the Senate after he proposes more post office naming legislation, and spending time with wife Jane at their lakefront cabin.

NPR:

Sanders' campaign manager, Faiz Shakir, suggested any decision to suspend the campaign — or to stay in — wouldn't be rushed. "The next primary contest is at least three weeks away," Shakir said in a Wednesday morning statement. "Sen. Sanders is going to be having conversations with supporters to assess his campaign. In the immediate term, however, he is focused on the government response to the coronavirus outbreak and ensuring that we take care of working people and the most vulnerable."

When Sanders spoke via livestream before the polls closed Tuesday, he didn't even mention the presidential campaign. Instead, he spoke for 20 minutes about what the federal government can do to mitigate the public health and economic fallout of the ongoing crisis, including a call for a $2,000 monthly stimulus to every American,

We can only hope he gets a clue and does the right thing.

Tuesday Primaries Results

Joe Biden has won Mississippi, as expected.

Ditto for Missouri.

Triple ditto for Michigan, which was just called for Biden.  He has won by double digits.



Sanders should drop out, but his ego won't allow it.

Along those lines, why does the left always lose?

Short answer:  People on the left are so busy trying to think they are right that they would rather lose than compromise their beliefs ala Sanders.  The problem with that is it makes it impossible to run a government.

Hillary Clinton supporters aren't angry she "lost" the contest--they are angry she WON the contest, just as John Kerry won in 2004 and Al Gore did in 2000 and feel it was stolen. What made this even worse is the Democratic Party, the party which stands for the right of every vote to be counted, was the one sanctioning and creating the cheating.

They are angry at sexism, but they are extremely angry at the way BOTH Clintons were treated this season, not only by the Obama campaign, a campaign that waged the filthiest primary campaign in the history of the Democratic Party, but also by the media. A media, mind you, that is still pissed off they couldn't run the Clintons out of town in the 1990s because they refused to kiss the Beltway Slut's ass.

And these two reasons, which this writer refuses to address, are the reasons behind the movement by Democrats against Obama.

By the way, Rebecca, Clinton didn't "concede"; she suspended her campaign. Not that it makes any goddamned difference to you.

explains why she is continuing to stay in the race despite the intense pressure by the GOP-leaning media (which knows Obama is corrupt to the gills and seeks to exploit it) and by many Democratic Party regulars (for reasons that cannot be explained).

I realize that any reference to that traumatic moment for our nation can be deeply painful - particularly for members of the Kennedy family, who have been in my heart and prayers over this past week. And I expressed regret right away for any pain I caused.

But I was deeply dismayed and disturbed that my comment would be construed in a way that flies in the face of everything I stand for - and everything I am fighting for in this election.

Clinton is much too gracious to say it, but the media have used this merely to force her out in favor of a general election loser.

Clinton gives several reasons why she is staying in the race, but for yours truly it is plainly obvious why she is there despite immense pressure for her to quit. She's in the race because she HAS to be in the race to prevent a complete disaster befalling the Democratic Party. It is that simple.

Campaign Notes.

According to this column, in the most inclusive count, Hillary Clinton will lead at the end of the primary season with the popular vote. It will be up to Obama's campaign to argue to the superdelegates why he should be picked instead of her.
