Dead Dumbbell Squawking

Susan Sarandon made a public jackass out of herself when she paraded around in an ill-fitting suit and showed off her 69- or 70-year-old cleavage to make some stupid public statement. Now she really jumped the shark when she was publicly disrespectful to a civil rights icon at the Nevada caucuses yesterday on top of likely violating caucus rules.

Totally disgraceful human being.

The Democratic Primary Contest Is Now Over

Hillary Clinton has decisively, by around five percentage points, beaten Senator Bernie Sanders to win the Nevada caucuses.

It is by enough that there will not be a repeat of 2008 where Clinton won the caucuses, but Obama got more delegates.

With this win, which wasn't a real surprise, Bernie Sanders' campaign is done.

He will continue until Super Tuesday, but from this point on, Hillary Clinton will run the table on South Carolina next Saturday, and on Super Tuesday on March 1.

Sanders, as much as I like him, was never in it to win the nomination. He was there to get the base of the party out and to prep Hillary Clinton for the fall campaign.

With the Republicans such a mess, she should win in November and become the first woman president in American history.

Ends and Odds

It was the end of the odd as Ben Roethlisberger's insurance company decided to settle the lawsuit filed by Andrea McNulty, the woman who claimed he sexually assaulted her at a Lake Tahoe hotel back in 2008.

Thanks to gag orders ("confidentiality clauses"), nobody is saying how much money McNulty got, if anything.
_____

It would have been great if "uncommitted" had actually won the Nevada Democratic caucuses, held this morning, for Obama deserves a "no confidence" vote.

Washington state wrestles with the charter school issue.

Washington, of course, is Bill Gates' home field, and there is no way he and his ilk are going to be denied their right to rip off taxpayers.

Despite the best efforts of the Ex-Wives Club, it appears Newt has won the South Carolina primary.

Barack Obama, 5/31/07.

More from my video archives is this speech Obama gave last May 31 at Wingfield Park in Reno, Nevada. This is sort of a kinescope-type thing because I do not yet have a converter to convert a HI8 tape to digital video. I was using my digital video camera and pointing at the television screen. At some point I will get a converter and replace this and other videos I took with HI8 and digitalize them. There is a dark band intruding every now and then on the video because it is being filmed. There is also jiggling from my camera because I was trying to get Obama in this crowd of literally thousands. He can be seen every now and then, and he can be heard loud and clear:

The remarks ran a half hour and are complete.

One of these days I will get a converter for these videos. I have miles of footage on HI8 including Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Bill Richardson, Elizabeth Edwards, John Edwards, and Jimmy Carter that I would love to upload here.

Hillary Clinton, Reno, Nevada, 1/18/08.

Here is my video, shot from a distance, of Senator Clinton speaking at the Grand Sierra Resort in front of a crowd of more than a 1,000, the day before the Nevada caucuses. Retired general Wesley Clark introduced her to an enthusiastic crowd.

Considering how far back I was, as I wanted to be near the rope so she could shake my hand and sign my copy of Living History, this video is not bad at all. I tried to get as much of her on film as possible given the heads I wanted to chop off.

All but a couple of minutes of her remarks are here. I stopped the camera just before she was finished so I could position myself at the rope.
