Wildflowers on Hiking Trail at Heyburn State Park, Idaho

 Park is located near Plummer, in the northern part of the state.

Poeville Trail.

You can see the bird catching a fish here. When I get these hawk pictures processed, I will crop them so they better show the bird.







This hawk was flying overhead looking for food. Naturally it wouldn't sit still for me.

Closeup of Peavine Peak. If I ever get the ambition or the strength, I will try to hike the trail up to the top. From there one can see the entire Truckee Meadows.





This time of the year is great for getting wildflower pictures.

This is an interesting closeup.




I just returned from going up the Poeville Trail which is near Lemmon Valley north of Reno on Highway 395. I was gone for close to three hours, and there were still quite a few wildflowers out. For me bringing a camera is a must on hikes. You never know what you will find. There were a bunch of these types of flowers out.

Keystone Canyon.

I went on a three-hour hike today. Start with the last picture and work your way up. Or you can start at the top and work your way down. I don't really care. I plan to get prints made of these pictures.





One more picture. I like this one of very tiny flowers. Coming back was extremely steep, and I went down the hillside because I was afraid of losing my footing on the trail. I have very good hiking shoes which have a good grip, but I was still pretty chickenshit coming down this very steep hill. At one point I saw a snake's head, probably a rattler, peering out from under a rock, but I avoided it like the plague.





It's still springtime, and this hillside was full of pretty wildflowers.





Here is an even closer picture. Note the bugs on the flowers. These are very tiny flowers.

There were clumps of these little guys further up the hillsides.






Here is another whitewash letter visible throughout the Truckee Meadows. No doubt this stands for "Reno."




Another one. I love these flowers. There are many varieties of wildflowers in this area, part of Rancho San Rafael Park.




I really like this flower.




Wild sunflowers are growing up on this hillside. I went up a different trail. One could spend weeks up in the Keystone Canyon area and not walk all of the trails.







I took these pictures of wild sunflowers on my way up the foothills of Keystone Canyon and Peavine Mountain. I got a hell of a workout today hiking for about three hours around the foothills. I could see Peavine from where I was, but it would take literally all day to hike up that mountain. It is also a difficult hike because of the steepness.
