Palin Speech
If one goes over to Drudge this morning, he or she will note I was correct when I said Palin exceeded expectations last night. Reviews were overwhelmingly positive despite Palin's nervousness at the beginning of the speech.
Considering the TelePrompTer broke during her speech, she did well.
But why should the media apologize? The trashing of Palin is doing exactly what it is supposed to do and that's to help McCain.
The locals liked her speech, too.
The speech was the easy part.

Republican Convention VI
Governor Palin came on at 9:30 Central Time.
She was nervous at first, then became more relaxed. She never flubbed up. Palin should get some halfway decent press out of this speech.
The memoirs crack and the one about the styrofoam columns were good.
My opinion: Palin exceeded expectations. She made no mistakes. She came across as likable. Most interesting was she never touched on wedge issues or came across as an extremist. She hit on her career as a reformer.
The idea she made a major "gaffe" by going after the press is simply laughable. Shit, the GOP and the media are working in concert. The way the media has gone overboard in trashing her makes everybody sympathize with her and McCain. That's the point. The reason the media are doing it because they are in the tank for the GOP. They don't want Obama; Obama was the ringer. He isn't supposed to win the election, and he won't.
This campaign has been total media manipulation from start to finish. Call it reverse psychology in this instance with Palin. They pretend they are being "fair" by attacking her and letting Obama off the hook, but in fact they WANT people to be outraged enough to vote for McCain/Palin.
Here is the transcript.
But I prefer the video:

Republican Convention V
Mr. Subject-Verb-9/11 was on. He hit Obama very hard on his elite background, his Chicago connections, and Obama's never taking a stand for anything and voting "present."
The video:
EVERY single GOP talking point was in this speech. He gave a LOT of red meat to the convention delegates.

Republican Convention IV
Mike Huckabee, the one I REALLY feared to be picked VP, spoke at the convention:

The manipulation is working like a Tiffany watch. Man, are voters being played for suckers.
Mitt Romney is on talking about the eastern media and so forth. I feel like I am in a time warp. We are right back to 1969 and the nattering nabobs of negativism or whatever the hell Spiro Agnew said. He's yapping about liberals, liberals this and liberals that, trying to rehearse that condescending phrasing of the word, and never mind he was actually quite a moderate governor of Massachusetts and flip-flopped all over the place to get the religious right vote when he ran for president.

Sarah Palin, in her remarks tonight, will be talking about the media's supposed hostility towards her and John McCain.
It'll work like a Tiffany watch, for EVERYBODY hates the media. And EVERYBODY will love McCain and Palin, just the way the media has always loved John McCain.
Call me skeptical.
Here are excerpts from her speech:
Yep, it's working just like it's supposed to. The media will be an issue--on purpose.

Here are excerpts from her speech:
"I'm not a member of the permanent political establishment. And I've learned quickly, these past few days, that if you're not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone. But here's a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion - I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country."

Republican Convention IV
That favorite of the nutroots, Joe Lieberman, spoke to the Republicans this year. He said country matters more than party.
Republican Convention III
For all of you suffering from insomnia, I present Fred Thompson.
His jokes are fell flat, let me tell you. However, he spent much time talking about McCain's experiences as a POW:
