Peter Singer Is Evil Incarnate

He never should have been allowed in the United States to begin with, much less wind up at Princeton University.

Singer is one of the two most evil people who have influenced policy of the past 40 years. The other one is Milton Friedman.

This is the author of the insane book, Animal Liberation, which was the founding document of the extremist or even terrorist animal "rights" movement. PETA and HSUS worship at the altar of this degenerate.

The ARs try to hide their true agenda behind the animal "welfare" cloak and often subvert the real animal welfare organizations in order to pursue a half-baked, pseudo-religious philosophy that is untenable.

After all, animals have no rights because they don't NEED them. The concept of "rights," which Singer rejects for all beings, is a human construct, designed to protect groups of people from being abused by other groups of people.

That's because people, unlike animals, can be assholes.

Like Peter Singer himself. Like PETA and HSUS.

Anyway, disability activists are once again pointing out what an evil son of a bitch this "professor" is:

Disability rights activists from Pennsylvania Not Dead Yet and New Jersey centers for independent living, as well as groups representing parents of people with disabilities, will be marching to Princeton University and holding a protest on June 10, 2015. Activists want Princeton to publicly denounce recent statements by Professor Peter Singer, promoting ending the lives of disabled infants through denial of health care, and for Princeton to take other steps to address what the activists describe as Singer’s “hate speech” toward disabled people.

“Since about 1980, Singer has promoted public policy that would legalize the killing of disabled infants in the first month of life,” said Stephen Drake, Not Dead Yet’s research analyst and expert on Singer. “More recently, he has expanded his position in the context of health care rationing.”

He's an evil bastard whose ideas never should have taken hold in this country.

He should be deported.

It Shouldn't Be Legal

Assisted suicide, apart from being flat-out unethical and very vulnerable to abuse, ain't all what it's cracked up to be.

We have Oregon as an example.

Supporters of assisted suicide often cite pain as a primary reason why people should have the legal right to die. But the state's report showed that people's concerns tended toward loss of autonomy (91 per cent), loss of dignity (71 per cent) or being a burden on their family (40 per cent). Coleman is particularly concerned that people are choosing assisted suicide because they feel they are a burden. "To me that feels more like a duty to die than a choice to die," she says.

It shouldn't be allowed because doctors can't be trusted, and most of all, those "loved ones" can't be trusted.

Especially if there is an inheritance involved.

Profiles in Cowardice

One of the most egregious examples of chickenshittery is the majority of the GOP senators to refuse to ratify the UN treaty on disability rights, something that would have NO effect on American law and was in fact BASED on the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The tea party bunch isn't a true grassroots group anyway but a front for economic terrorists like the Koch brothers.


So what happened?

To begin with, a shocking number of senators changed positions on the treaty at the last minute, without telling disabled groups (including many disabled veterans’ groups) of their reversal.

Foreign Policy reported that the United States International Council on Disabilities and many other groups “had been assured by numerous GOP senators that they would vote in favor of ratification” before they in fact voted “no.” Josh Rogin writes:

Several GOP senators actually RSVPd for a reception held at the Capitol Tuesday morning to honor Dole, a disabled veteran himself, for his decades of work on behalf of the disabled community. [Kansas Sen. Pat] Roberts, along with Sens. Mike Enzi (R-WY), Johnny Isakson (R-GA), Richard Shelby (R-AL), and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) all planned to attend the ceremony honoring Dole, but didn’t show up and then voted “no” on the treaty.

Disgusting.

Of Course Rick Santorum Never Read the Treaty

He's a blithering idiot. It's amazing he ever graduated from law school. However, with so many lawyers being full of shit and/or unethical, I shouldn't be surprised there are so many dingbats in their profession bloviating about things they don't know anything about and refuse to do the research before shooting off their mouths.

The truth is that the treaty opposition was just the GOP nutters throwing a hissy fit because Obama got re-elected. They didn't give a crap about the UN or about disability rights.

The only question is whether the treaty can be eventually ratified by the new Congress.

John Kerry called out the dipshit former senator and failed presidential candidate:

"He either simply hasn’t read the treaty or doesn't understand it or he was just not factual in what he said," Kerry said, "because the United Nations has absolutely zero, zero, I mean zero ability to order or to tell or to even - I mean they can suggest - but they have no legal capacity to tell the United States to do anything under this treaty. Nothing.”

Dysfunctional, Totally Dysfunctional

I still cannot believe anybody ever voted against the disability rights treaty.

The GOP offenders did it just to spite Obama. I don't even think the dingbat Koch brothers astroturf "tea party" outfit or even the homeschool lobby had anything to do with it. It was "payback" for Obama winning the election, as far as I am concerned.

More than 43 years ago, Dole delivered his first speech on the very same floor — on disability rights. Later, as one of the most powerful members of the Senate, he pushed through the Americans with Disabilities Act, a measure designed to protect citizens grappling with accidents and disease.

Now he had come the Senate floor, perhaps for the last time, to persuade lawmakers to adopt a treaty supporters said would extend disability protections around the world.

“Don’t let Senator Bob Dole down,” Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts said, raising his voice, pointing at his former colleague. “Most importantly, don’t let the Senate and the country down. Approve this treaty.”

It wasn’t enough.

This was surely one of the most disgraceful moments in the history of the United States Senate.

Our country is broken, and it is damned near unfixable.

This is so tragic I can't believe it:

By the time he arrived at the pound on Monday, the shelter employee in charge of euthanizing animals that day had apparently picked the wrong dog out of the pen and administered a lethal injection, performing what the shelter referred to as “P.T.S.,” or put to sleep.

“I am heartsick over this,” Ruth Stalter, the county’s animal care and control director, said in a statement. “I had to personally deliver the news to the dog’s owner, and he and his family are understandably distraught.”

Barraged with criticism, the county ordered an investigation and placed the unidentified woman who euthanized Target on administrative leave. “This is unacceptable,” Ms. Stalter said, “and no family should be deprived of their companion because procedures were not followed.”

City police have charged a 15-year-old girl as an accomplice to the gang rape of her 7-year-old sister.

Police said they believe the older sibling was paid for having sex with multiple partners Sunday night during a party at the troubled Rowan Towers apartment complex, and that she then sold her sister to others at the party.

Police said they believe the younger girl was raped by five to seven individuals, who held the girl against her will and threatened to kill her if she screamed or if she later told anyone about what happened.

Sick, sick, sick.

The Yale student who leaped to his death from the Empire State Building has been identified:

The NYPD and Yale University identified Cameron Dabaghi, a 21-year-old junior from Austin, Texas, as the man who jumped to his death Tuesday night from the Empire State Building's 86th floor observation deck.

Dabaghi left a suicide note in his dorm room in New Haven, Conn., a police source said Wednesday.

He apologized for turning to suicide and wrote he planned to jump from either the George Washington Bridge or the Empire State.

There were seven people on the landmark building's observation deck when Dabaghi climbed the safety barrier, police said. One person tried to talk to him down but Dabaghi would not listen, cops said.

Frances Inglis, whose 22-year-old son Tom suffered severe head injuries when he fell out of a moving ambulance, had admitted ending her son's life but denied murder, saying she did it "with love" to end his suffering.

The Education Wars: Some Good News for a Change

This is a nice thing for this school for the severely disabled; I wonder why it took so long.

I believe, however, eventually this school will be phased out and the kids in these schools put into regular public schools in "life skills" classes. Upon reflection, perhaps the reason it isn't being done now is because these teachers have to be specially trained to deal with students with severe disabilities. The typical life skills class in Washoe County and in other school districts around the country have cross-category special education students (i.e., students who are moderately cognitively disabled mixed with students who are behind several grade levels in reading and math--"learning disabled"--but who are otherwise "normal" intelligence).

I know that principal over there; he is one of the good principals which are fewer and fewer in that district and in districts all over the United States.

The Education Wars

This report is truly disturbing and shows how far schools and teachers need to go to deal with special education students, especially those who act out or are emotionally disturbed.

According to a report released today by the Government Accountability Organization, the widespread use of the often violent and abusive techniques of restraining or secluding students with special needs has led to hundreds of fatalities and injuries of American school children in the past two decades.

Of the hundreds of cases the GAO reviewed, at least 20 instances of restraint or seclusion resulted in the death of a child.

Scary shit, and special education is truly a legal nightmare. But it isn't just the student who is having the problem that teachers have to worry about; it's also the safety of other students. This is it in a nutshell:

Peterson called the decision on how to respond to a child's outburst a "delicate balance" and recounted two incidents in which parents sued because restraint was used on their children, as well as a case in which a school was sued for not restraining a child.

"Schools are in a bind," Peterson said.

Some students HAVE to be restrained in order to keep themselves and others safe. "Time out" rooms are hardly violations for crying out loud. Yes, there are some truly bad things going on, but those are obviously rare.

Read the comments after the article. Many of them are very good and have obviously been written by teachers who deal with these types of students.

The Right to Kill

If her children had been healthy and she wanted them dead for whatever reason, this murder would NEVER get away with the crap she's trying to spew in public.

Murder is murder, no matter whether the victim is healthy or disabled.

Some background:

The murder was horrifying. So was all-too-certain knowledge that this would not be a case viewed by the Georgia community with horror at all, for Michael Randy Scott, 42, and Andy Byron Scott, 41, were described as having "suffered from a long-term degenerative disease." (The next day readers would learn it was Huntington's Chorea.) The only uncertainty on the part of disability activists was how long it would take for the term "mercy killing" to be applied to the murders.

Not long. Scott Walters, attorney for the mother, Carol Carr, told the Atlanta Journal Constitution's Jeffrey Scott on June 11 that Carr, discovering Randy Scott had been catheterized, believed he was in pain.

"He's begging her with his eyes. She knew he was crying for mercy," Walters explained.

There it was. "Mercy."

"The investigation shows it's a mercy killing," Lt. Joe Estenes of the Griffin police told Scott. "We don't believe it was premeditated. But the law doesn't differentiate between a mercy killing and premeditated killing. It's really bothering me, man."

New York City activists Nadina LaSpina and Danny Robert met with Debra Lovecky of the Huntington's Disease Society of America; impact of the meeting has so far been hard to gauge. Mark Johnson has been reaching out to the Huntington's Disease group in Georgia; he hopes that the group will soon join Georgia activists in advocating for home-based alternatives to nursing homes. Perhaps, he hopes, there'll be an opportunity to talk about the dangers we all face as a result of the belief that Scott brothers weren't really persons any more, and that their deaths shouldn't count as a real murder.

Because if that message wins the day, no one with a cognitive disability is safe.

The Vile Peter Singer

thought he'd get a free pass when he discovered the disability rights organization Not Dead Yet had moved from Chicago, but when he spoke in the Windy City earlier this month, he was proven wrong.

A brother and sister living near Redwood City have been convicted of forcing their developmentally disabled sister to live in a backyard shed with no electricity while they stole her benefit checks.

That is bad enough, but they are getting a slap on the wrist for grand theft and abuse:

Both were released on their own recognizance pending their sentencing April 8. They are not expected to receive any state prison time and face a maximum of six months in jail.

Unbelievable.

Italy has its own version of the Schiavo case with a woman who is on the verge of being dehydrated to death.

It's such a good way to die, after all, much better than putting a bullet to her brain or suffocating her.
